Träume eines Apparatschiks. Vilém Flussers ästhetisch-technologische Medienutopie vor dem Hintergrund des Marxismus

This article examines the aesthetic-technological media utopia in the works of Vilém Flusser in a new way, by showing that his concept is substantially constituted in opposition to Marxist thinking, especially in the contemporary version of western neo-Marxism. The aim of the paper is to reveal the fundamental theoretical matrix of Flusser’s utopian thinking. It is therefore necessary to investigate the nature of his quasi-historical critique, which contains a strong anti-humanism, a focus on productive forces in contrast to the relations of production, and a ›cybernetic‹ theory of knowledge and information. His analysis provides the ontological basis for a neo-mystical outline of utopia in which aesthetic-technological practice has a primary function in the process of overcoming individual and collective alienation.
