Literatur im Kulturbeutel? Ein kritischer Blick auf Didaktik und Kulturwissenschaft

Didactics of literature – established at universities in the late 60s – has, from its inception, aimed at the mediation of theory and practise. Thus it could be regarded as one of the best tested fields of Culture Studies (Kulturwissenschaft). The paper outlines the epistemological requirements of didactics as well as of Culture Studies and compares them critically with the actual methodological and curricular praxis. Its conclusion is: A sensible concept for culturally orientated literary studies can only be reached if scholars show confidence in their aesthetic and hermeneutic approach and are aware of its distance from politics and economics.
